Hello all! I have been lurking in and out of MT quite a bit. A little birdy told
me that no one has been doing much with the Japanese language group. So sad! Has
there been ANY mods/admins on?
Hey all! sorry I have been away for a long time. Things have been happening IRL
that needed my attention. Job changes this summer, moving, my boyfriend's job
change and move, hectic work schedule, etc etc. Ah, gotta love the Real World
*cue evil music*. Anywho, I'm going to try to be more active again. Feel free to
message me anytime! <3
Welcome to the group! I am sorry that others haven't been so active. I will
try to be more active! If you have any Japanese questions, don't be afraid to
ask. Ganba~!

growing at alarming rate. Sleep illudes me at the present. No matter how much I
sleep it does not change how tired I feel. Papers, papers, and more papres.
Seems like a sea of them flooding my way. I'm going to go crazy if I have to do
another research paper and this is only my first year.
first year? ah... how i long for those days... i'm in my third year and i wish i
could say that it gets better...
what are you majoring in?
First year IS hard though, because you haven't yet learned how the system works.
Atleast by your 3rd and 4th year of college you know how things work and can
plan accordingly. Also, many first years go crazy with the whole
leaving-on-their-own thing. Too much drinking/partying, not serious about their
work, etc etc. But yes, college doesn't get any easier, I'm afraid. It also gets
more serious, from my experience. Good luck! You can do it!
Yep, soy sauce with some water. There is also this stuff called Tsuyu, which is
similar to soy sauce but not as salty. You would also add a little water to it.
Then, grate up some daikon and toss it in the liquid. healthy and yummy!
Quote by polarieanyone knows what's the
soup stock for udon? i want to get the flavour of the soup right... it taste the
same be it for wakame udon or tsukimi udon.. so i believed there must be a
certain thing that go into making the soup of udon..
thanks!
Good question! There are a few different ways of doing it. The most basic would
be to use either a soy-sauce base or a miso base. soy-sauce is more common, and
probably what you are thinking of, but don't rule out miso! It will make it
richer and is perfect for when the weather is colder.
Too bad BotChii is only 5. But
yeah, just request to join the group and myself or another mod will add you.
Just make sure you fit the criteria of the group before applying.
@nighteyes: I heard about that! Haha! Very random... perhaps they need to add a
group lable? Like... oldsters.group.minitokyo.net. It gets a bit long, but may save some hassles.
Luckily for us, I don't think we have to worry about anyone naming themselves
Oldsters anytime soon.
@Youkailady: Ooooh, I am not a fan of the credit thing, but I understand why it
is needed. Why do you think it increases involvement? I thought that it would do
the opposite.
Quote by LiraelHey mina! how is everyone

WateryAura... this would by your fifth language thats amazing... wut others do
you speak?
Good luck with your Japanese studies! Studying the hiragana and katakana can be
really hard and frusterating at first, but stick with it! I'm sure you will do
well, since it sounds like you are really interested in the subject. Let us know
how you do!
We have won the "battle" with MT and now widescreen wallpapers are
allowed to be uploaded onto MT! Thanks everyone for the support. Now... let's
start making those widescreen wallpapers!
edit: yay! Ok, let's get back to talking about food. :B

Whoa! Where did all the people go?! Let's get the ball rolling...
I saw a post on the forums asking for information on where to buy Japanese
snacks. So I thought, why don't we post some links on here as well? I found this
place while trying to help that user: http://www.japanesesnacks.com/wheretoshop.php
It has a list of various online shops that sell japanese products, including
food.
Here is a bunch of pictures of bentos. Maybe it will give you some inspiration.
It also gives instructions for how to cook them, but it's all in Japanese.

Looks good! I often say "Anata wa...?" when I am asking their opinion
or what they think of something. "Dou desu ka" is usually used for
"How is it?" and can be used on it's own. Be careful using
"anata". Though we are taught it, it is sometimes considered rude.
Use the person's name or omit the name all together.
Japanese curry is a bit hard to make because they have special curry blocks that
you boil. I can look into it a bit though...
Bento making is the best thing ever! I did it over the summer when we didnt have
school lunch. It was a ton of fun to make. Of course, rice is a major part of
it. People also often use meatballs, tonkatsu, karage (fried chicken), veggies
(green beans, carrots, potatoes), spaghetti, and sushi. Sometimes noodles
substitute the rice. Use whatever you like, just have many small portions.
This site keeps getting more and more glitchy. it's part of the reason why I
have been lurking a bit. How is everyone doing, btw? It appears that my last
post was ignored...

Nighteyes, they may be names of users.
There does seem to be a lot of problems with the groups, so hopefully it will be fixed soon. Until then, I guess we should just deal with it.

Did you notice that our group is in the music category? haha! I wonder if we have to do anything to change that... it's not in my control panel.

I'm getting used to the new layout, but I must admit that I hate the credits thing.
Perhaps I should send an announcement out to get people back in here...

I guess I'll start: What do you think of MT v3?
Is this thing working yet?

Sorry!! I have been away for awhile; focusing on IRL stuff. I will try to come up with something new for us to cook soon. Any suggestions?
sorry! I have been away for a long time; taking a break from the net and focusing on IRL stuff. Ahhh, gotta love "the real world"
On the subject of manga: I've read a bit, but haven't gotten into any of them seriously.
welcome to the group, new members!! Sorry I have been away. I was off celebrating my birthday. Another year old, but still young at heart.
